Farewell, My Sweet 20's...

T-minus less than 12 hours before I am officially a member of the 30 and over set. T-minus less than 12 hours for me to perform one last action of an insouciant post-adolescent. [Any suggestions?]

T-minus less than 12 hours until I begin ranting about mini-vans and mortgages.

Happy early birthday. The 30s aren't bad at all, though I will say my 31st birthday was infinitely better than my 30th. Too many expectations, too little partying with best friends in my own house. So you have plenty to look forward to. For about a year, anyway. ;)

HP, I was at The Black Cat shortly before turning 30, playing pool with a callow 23-year-old frat boy-type. He was telling me he had broken up with his girlfriend because, in his words, “She was old...like you.” Shocked and slightly bewildered, I looked at him and asked, “Exactly how old do you think I am?” He looked at me for a couple of seconds, furrowed his eyebrow, and said confidently: “Twenty-nine?” It was at THAT moment that I realized: I am SO over my 20s.

You will be, too. You'll see.

I think the trauma of turning thirty is way overdone.

You'll still be sexy
You'll still be intelligent
You'll still be dramatically well-spoken
You'll still have a troop of faithful and devoted blog-readers.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HP! You're just fab.

Happy Birthday. Me? I plan to never make it that far...after all, Janis, Kurt, Jimi and Jim never made it that far. Then again I've already passed them by one year, shit, I'm late again.

Oh HP, didn't you get the memo? We don't drive mini-vans anymore...us 30-somethings lament driving MPV's: Multi purpose vehicles now. So rest easy.

HAH. J/K. Happy Birthday! Thirty was an awesome, awesome birthday for me (complete w/puking out of a cab window onto 18th Street...) Enjoy every second and welcome to my box!

Happy early birthday.
I think, on any birthday, you should treat yourself to something alone. Get a pedicure. Go see a movie. Enjoy doing something with yourself. Then, go party it up with those that you love!

Happy Birthday Hey Pretty! I will be 3-0 next year and I'm just dreading it. I am probably too late with crazy suggestions but what about roller-skating (and I don't mean roller-blading)? Have a good day.

Anything "insouciant" will suffice. I've got 5 months to go until the end of my innocence. Not planning on changing a damn thing...except my wardrobe, residence, car, attitude towards dating, and general approach to evryday life. Nothing major.

Happy Birthday HP! I hope your day and your party are fantastic!

From the ripe old age of 36, I'd have to say that turning 35 was much worse than turning 30. The looming 40 is frightening. But generally the 30s are great. No need for a minivan (ugh!) but mortgages aren't so bad...

All the best,
akp

Welcome to 30, HP. It's great. I haven't missed my angst-ridden 20s one bit. I turn 31 on Friday!!
